About the Volunteer Programs

At Mad River Community Hospital, our volunteers are the heart and soul of our community care. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, MRCH Volunteers, Inc. is dedicated to enhancing patient care, supporting the health and safety of our workplace, and linking the community to our hospital. We’re not just volunteers; we are ambassadors of care and compassion.

Our Mission

  • Enhancing Patient Care and Comfort: Our volunteers work directly with patients, offering comfort and assistance to enhance their hospital experience.
  • Support for Patients in Need: We raise funds to assist patients through financial hardships, providing everything from essential medical supplies to support for their overall well-being.
  • Promoting Education: We offer scholarships and fund educational programs, helping aspiring healthcare professionals and staff members to advance their skills and knowledge.
  • Community Connection: We bridge the gap between Mad River Community Hospital and the community it serves, ensuring that our hospital is a pillar of health in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties.

What We Do

Our activities range from operating the hospital’s Gift Shop to organizing fundraising events—all aimed at supporting the hospital and its mission. Since 1998, we’ve been committed to making a significant impact in the lives of our patients and the community.

Join Our Volunteers

Do you want to make a meaningful difference? Joining MRCH Volunteers, Inc. offers a chance to help others in a fulfilling and impactful way. We welcome volunteers aged 14 and older, from all walks of life. Our volunteers contribute across various roles, from assisting in patient care to supporting hospital operations and staffing our Gift Shop.

How to Volunteer

  • Adult Volunteers: Commit to one or two four-hour shifts per week.
  • Junior Volunteers (ages 14-17): Participate in one afternoon or evening shift per week during the academic year, gaining invaluable experience and community service hours.
