Community – Community Health Advisory Board

The Mad River Community Hospital Community Health Advisory Board (CHAB) is a group of local citizens who act as community liaisons, communicating to the hospital areas of healthcare needs, wants and concerns. CHAB communicate the hospital services and activities to community members.

The Community Health Advisory Board was established in order to provide information and education from Mad River Community Hospital to the public. The volunteer board consists of 18 members and represents Humboldt, Trinity, and Del Norte Counties. CHAB meets once and month to discuss topics such as yearly goals, education for the public, community concerns regarding healthcare needs, events, fundraising and hospital recruitment. CHAB is always open to accepting new volunteers.

Every Valentine’s Day, the Community Health Advisory Board (CHAB) shows their appreciation for the hospital staff and volunteers by assembling over 500 gift bags to distribute throughout the hospital.

The CHAB also coordinates and hosts our patient education Distinguished Lecture Series, informational seminars that are open to the community and focus on health issues such as breast cancer, prostate health, diabetes, skin cancer, and other topics of interest to our patients.
