We will be having an Active Shooter drill in the hospital on December 5. Call for times.
This will be multi-agency, law enforcement, and our community partners will be participating. We will use some moulage on our victims as well.
The Local EMS authority (North Coast EMS) has requested that we make the public aware of any training that we offer for emergency cardiac care. We are an American Heart Association Training Center and we offer, BLS/ACLS/PALS and NRP both to our staff and the community.
We will be hosting/sponsoring (2) full classes of TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum) on Nov. 19-20. This is the definitive class/certification for ED/ICU or any other nurse who takes care of Trauma patients (we are a Level IV Trauma Center)-this class is very important and we have an in-house Instructor, Emily Fredrickson. The training to become an instructor is quite rigorous and thanks to Emily for taking it on! Also, big acknowledgement and thanks to the Volunteers who have supplied the tuition for our staff members. (the class is $450.00 and the book is $86.00) The first class will be in November, and the second one will be in January. I have been able to send 11 people to the first one and hopefully 10 to the second. This means that ALL of the nurses in the ER will have TNCC. This demonstrates the commitment to excellence in Trauma Care of our facility and our physicians.
