About the Volunteers, Inc.For over 30 years, the Volunteers at Mad River Community Hospital have worked to assist and enhance patient care and education in our community. Please read about our many activities and our in service volunteers to learn how we make a difference. The Volunteers' first priority is patient care and comfort. Our second is education.
Patient Care: In addition to our in service volunteers, who make a vital contribution to patient comfort while helping to ensure that all visitors have a pleasant experience at the hospital, the Volunteers, Inc., supports patient care in many ways. We maintain an emergency financial resource fund for low-income patients, help sustain the hospital's Wellness Garden, provide car seats to needy families leaving the Birth Center, purchase equipment such as wheelchairs for patient use in the hospital, and much more. Education: To promote education, we provide scholarships to local college students pursuing health-related degrees and to staff for continuing education and special training. We also support patient education through the Community Health Advisory Board, which hosts a distinguished lecture series for the community on important health topics.
