ARCATA— Mad River Community Hospital is pleased to announce that Kim Ervin, M.D., Christopher Lee, M.D., and Marcia Brenta, N.P., will be joining Mad River HealthCare Clinic. Kim Ervin and Marcia Brenta specialize in women’s healthcare and Christopher Lee specializes in Internal Medicine, and together they bring over 90 years of healthcare experience to the Mad River Hospital family of clinics.
Dr. Kim Ervin has been taking care of women in Humboldt County since 1989. She started her own OB-GYN practice in 1992. After a neck injury in 2001, she stopped delivering babies but continued to care for women’s gynecologic and other healthcare needs. Dr. Ervin is also a respected gynecologic surgeon.
“I came to Humboldt in 1989 because there was a need for more OB-GYN’s and I wanted to live in this beautiful part of the world. It has been a challenging place to practice medicine but I stay because I am still needed and I love my patients and the community,” states Dr. Kim Ervin.
Dr. Kim Ervin got her medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Keesler U.S. Air Force Medical Center. Before coming to California, she was Chief of OB-GYN at F.E. Warren Airforce Base in Wyoming. She is an active member of the California Medical Association, the local Humboldt Del Norte Medical Society, and has been Board Certified in OB-GYN.
Christopher Lee, M.D., specializes in Internal Medicine and has been a part of the Humboldt medical community for more than 35 years. He completed medical school at Northwestern University in 1973 then went to University of Oregon Hospital and Clinics to do his internship and residency in Internal Medicine. Christopher Lee is a member of the Medical Staff at Mad River Community Hospital, the California Medical Association, the Humboldt Del-Norte Medical Society, and the American College of Physicians.
Marcia Brenta, N.P., is a graduate of Humboldt State University with a B.S. degree and PHN licensing. She attended UCSF GYN N.P. program in 1978 and Campbell Education Program in OB-GYN in 1986 where she graduated with her OB-GYN Nurse Practitioner license. Her passion for women’s health and obstetrics began in the late 70s and she has provided both reproductive, health maintenance and obstetric care for women in many settings locally. Her special interests include sexuality, nutrition, exercise and embracing the challenges of aging.
“All of the new providers are dynamic professionals and we look forward to benefiting from their expertise, insight and experience as members of Mad River Community Hospital.” said Doug Shaw, CEO “We are truly excited about having these distinguished members join the Mad River HealthCare Clinic system as we are certain they will add an important and necessary dimension to our team.”
